Well, it was a crazy few months behind the scenes but I trust that frenzied look on my face didn’t transmit through the website or email.
Our family hit the very highs and the very lows this spring and it’s been a roller coaster of emotions as we lost one of our own. The very best thing was to be reminded of how much love and support we’re truly blessed with in our family.
We all staggered through the emotional blizzard to reach the end of winter with the garden starting to bloom and a chorus of birds singing around us. And those spring flowers and renewed life reminded me daily of how beautiful life can be. There’s a spirit in the earth that flows in the early spring that is not replicated in any other time. The early morning and evening light turns from the hard blue of winter to the golden orange glow of early spring for a few weeks before the blazing yellow of summer takes over.
The birds sound hopeful in the spring and not as cautious as they are during the summer when the hawks and other summer raptors are hunting overhead.
If somebody would tell that cardinal to stop advertising (outside my bedroom window) for a mate at 4am, I’d appreciate it.
The frogs in the swamp started singing and the darn deer have decided to bunk down at the end of our lawn. (Which is cute except they want breakfast served from my garden).
Spring has sprung and with it a new outlook, a renewal and return to writing.
The Renewed Cover
To begin with, I hope you like the new cover.? I *really*, *really* appreciated those who took the time to vote on the cover.? (My favorite got trashed. LOL.)
But the best part was your comments — those won the day and taught me a ton about what was important to you.
This version is slightly modified from the voting page but it was a breakaway winner in your voting. The second place finisher was a considerable distance behind.
The entire Net went ballistic over the last few weeks with the European legislation dealing with Privacy. I’ve had a Privacy page on my site since the beginning. Click here if you want to read it. I did modify it so it’s a bit clearer (some of the legalese in these things is daunting).
What code is on my site that applies to Privacy settings (in plain English)
- I have a? Google stats package that tells me the number of people who visit my site, what pages they visit and how they interact with my site. But I have no way of identifying what you as an individual do.
- And if you sign up for the newsletter, you give me your name and email address. If you unsubscribe from my newsletter – that disappears from my list and I can’t recover it.
- There is an Amazon code that recognizes your home country to refer you to that country’s Amazon page. I don’t have access to this data to this and I only include it for the convenience of the reader who wants to see my ebooks (and if you’re not American, it will take you to your home country)
- And I can scrub your comments from the website should you request it.
And that should take care of that.
Questions For Merlin
As always, if you have a question for Merlin, all you have to do is hit reply on any email from me and ask it. I’ll pass it along to see what he has to say.
I have about eight stories lined up to send to you at the moment and a few others “in the works”.
The Next Books
Are coming along. But they got bigger again during the last two months.
It’s like a child. You look at them one week and then you look again – in what seems like a week later – and they’re four feet taller and wanting to borrow the car…
Darn thing grew on me when I wasn’t looking.? It’s an interesting challenge to take a story like this and have it all hang together in a way that makes sense.? I’m plowing along (this past few weeks I’ve done about 2000 words a day but that’s getting faster now as I’ve just installed DragonNaturallySpeaking on my computers.? There’s a learning curve – moving from a lifetime of typing to dictation takes an entirely new mindset.
I think that’s an honest summary of what’s going on behind the scenes. I’m working away to honestly record and get a sense of what it’s like to live for that long, not be bogged down by all the negativity and concentrate on the good in life.
There is indeed magic out there if we can take the time to let it work on us.
Thanks for being part of my world.
